A few weeks after returning the Freelander name with a spectacular concept car developed by Jaguar Land Rover together with Chery, the full production version premiered at the Beijing Auto Show. The model, officially named Freelander 8, will be available for sale worldwide in both left- and right-hand drive versions. Carscoops reports this.
Freelander 8 is based on its proprietary iMAX platform, allowing the creation of pure electric vehicles, as well as extended range electric vehicles (EREVs) and plug-in hybrids. Although many parameters remain unknown, it is already clear that the model is longer, taller and wider than the Land Rover Defender 110, which in the future may switch some buyers of this popular model to it.
The design of the new model largely follows the Concept 97 concept – and this is rather a plus. The front end received two square headlights, and the traditional radiator grille is missing – it was replaced by small black air intakes on the bumper. A lidar is installed above the windshield.
