Cars were supplied from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Russia, the import of which was approved by government decree as part of parallel imports. In particular, the most popular cars for ordering from the UAE were Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, as well as products from the American concerns Ford and GM.
“We have a car delivery service [из ОАЭ] temporarily suspended. A few days ago, this information appeared that it was temporarily suspended, but they haven’t set a time frame yet,” he told a Motor magazine correspondent who contacted the Fresh auto marketplace hotline with a question about the service of buying a car from the UAE.
The company did not specify how it will interact with customers who have already used a similar service and made an advance payment for cars. Before this, Motor magazine wrote that thousands of cars from Russian customers were stuck in the UAE, as well as in Iran, which car dealers used as a transport corridor.
On February 28, the United States, together with Israel, launched a military operation against Iran. The country’s ground military and civilian infrastructure was bombed; in response, Iran fired at its enemies, as well as their Middle Eastern allies, including the United Arab Emirates. The UAE’s main maritime hub, the port of Jebel Ali in Dubai, was hit by drone strikes. It was from here that cars were sent by sea to Novorossiysk.
