The Chinese Cars portal quoted the chairman of the board of directors of Jack Wei: he stated that the concern is engaged in a new engine on “heavy” fuel. “Now we have 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter diesel engines on the same platform. We are working on a new 3.0-liter diesel engine, ”confirmed the head of GWM. The unit will have six cylinders and a V-shaped scheme.
It is expected that the new 3.0-liter diesel V6 will appear on Tank 500 and 700 SUVs, as well as large pickups of the flagship Shanhai Poer series. Since 2025, the “heavy” fuel engines have been in the Tank 300 and 400 lineups, but in both cases the GW4D24 motor is used with a working volume of 2.4 liters, which develops up to 186 horsepower and 490 nm.
Great Wall named a model that will be released by Tank 400 Great Wall all over the years of 20 years.
For large powers of a 2.4-liter diesel power, it may not be enough, and in Great Wall this is aware. The new six -cylinder diesel will go to production by 2027. The Great Wall Poer mass pickups uses a 2.0-liter GW4D20 turbodiesel, which develops up to 166 horsepower and 400 nm. In Russia, this motor is well familiar, but the 2.4-liter unit appeared recently.
Interestingly, just two years ago for the Tank brand, diesel engines were not considered “premium”. However, in some markets, such units are in demand, and the “heavy” fuel SUVs are offered by Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and until recently even Cadillac. Lovers of powerful GWM gasoline engines will please the new V8.
