Haval has updated two key models for the Russian market at once. The H7 crossover, which debuted only a year ago, received a more powerful engine, and only the two most popular configurations remained. The H9 frame SUV, on the contrary, has been modernized more thoroughly: its diesel engine has disappeared, but the gasoline engine has become more powerful. The main change is under the hood. Instead of the previous 4N20 engine with a power of 192 horsepower (320 Nm), the 4N20A unit is now installed. This is the same 2.0-liter turbo engine, but in a forced version: power increased to 231 hp, torque – to 380 Nm.

The manufacturer claims that with the new engine and 7-speed 7DCT robot (with two wet clutches), the crossover accelerates to hundreds in 7.8 seconds – this is 2.3 seconds faster than the pre-reform version. The rated fuel consumption in the combined cycle decreased from 9.7 to 9.0 liters per 100 km. The environmental class of the engine has been increased from Euro-5 to Euro-6; the timing chain drive still uses a chain.
Equipment and off-road arsenal
The change in power unit did not entail changes in the chassis design. The H7 is based on the modular LEMON platform (Great Wall Unified Chassis). The front suspension is standard McPherson, the rear is multi-link. The list of standard equipment includes an electronically controlled rear cross-axle differential lock (hydraulic multi-plate clutch), which is still a rarity for crossovers.

Transmission – Torque-On-Demand all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled rear wheel clutch. Of the nine preset driving modes, four are dedicated to off-roading (mud, sand, grass/gravel and a separate Off-Road mode). Geometric cross-country ability remains the same: ground clearance – 200 mm, approach angle – 24 degrees, departure angle – 30 degrees. The Haval H7 is certified to tow a trailer weighing up to 1.5 tonnes (braked).
Body and adaptation
The dimensions have not changed: length 4705 mm, width 1908 mm, height 1780 mm. Wheelbase – 2810 mm. There have been no significant external changes since the debut in 2025: round LED headlights, a massive grille and an abundance of unpainted plastic along the bottom of the body. But the radiator grille and window trim are now black – the abandonment of chrome has become part of the Russian adaptation.

Engineers claim enhanced anti-corrosion treatment for the body, a larger capacity battery (70 Ah) and a 4.5-liter washer reservoir. Among the solutions specific to Russia are a block of physical buttons on the front panel (retained at the request of customers) and height adjustment of the front seat belts.
Multimedia and salon
Inside, the main changes concern digital services. For the first time, the online service VK Video appeared on Haval models. The multimedia system with a 14.6-inch screen is still based on the Yandex Auto platform with maps, music and audiobooks, but now a personalization function has been added: you can customize widgets on the main screen (Smart Widget) and display a floating cursor at the current speed.

A telematics module with a monthly limit of 4 GB is responsible for the operation of online services (then either Wi-Fi or a fee). The free trial period for access to multimedia is three months from the date of sale.
The interior retains the same architecture with a vertical front panel. There are two color options: black ceiling in any option, seats – either black eco-leather or terracotta (a combination of eco-leather and genuine leather for the top version).
Options and prices
The line has been reduced from three to two trim levels to simplify choice. Only all-wheel drive versions remain. 4WD Premium (from 4 million rubles): LED optics, 18-wheel drive, dual-zone climate control, heated everything (seats, steering wheel, windshield, injectors), ventilated front seats, all-round cameras (“transparent hood”), adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and blind spot monitoring systems, contactless trunk opening.

4WD Tech Plus (from 4.2 million rubles): adds a panoramic roof with a sunroof, a head-up display, an audio system with a subwoofer (10 speakers), a power passenger seat, a parking assistant with 50-meter trajectory memory and 19-inch wheels.
The trunk in all versions is 483 liters (with the second row seats folded down). The rear seats fold in a 60:40 ratio, resulting in a volume of 1,362 liters.

The most interesting modification will not reach the Russian market, and it is not Great Wall that is to blame for this, but regulatory policy. Against the backdrop of a sharp increase in recycling collection and rising fuel prices, selling the diesel H9 has become unprofitable.

The company provided figures: in 2024, the recycling fee for the diesel H9 was 845 thousand rubles, and in 2026 it exceeded 2.3 million rubles. For the gasoline version, the fee also increased, but from 301 thousand to 953 thousand rubles. The choice is obvious.
Diesel fuel has risen in price from 48 to 72 rubles per liter since 2024, gasoline over the same period – from 48 to 68 rubles. The share of sales of diesel cars fell from 15% in 2018 to 1% in 2026. Haval decided not to take risks.

Therefore, the updated H9 is offered in Russia exclusively with a gasoline engine (218 hp) and an 8-speed automatic transmission. First of all, traction suffered: the gasoline unit produces 380 Nm versus 480 Nm for the diesel engine.
External changes
The design of H9 has become more restrained. The radiator grille has lost its silver trim and is now grey. The wheel arch extensions are made of unpainted black plastic: this is more practical, since the coating is less susceptible to chipping off-road. The color range has been replenished with a new shade “Satin Selenite” (metallic gray). In the cabin, a black ceiling has become available for some trim levels.

The car now comes with three keys: two smart keys and one mechanical. The latter is needed for the convenience of using the hinged box on the fifth door – it can be used to open both the box itself and the car doors.
Multimedia and software
The main technical update is the integration of the Yandex Auto platform into the standard multimedia system with a 14.6-inch screen. The driver has access to “Yandex Maps” taking into account traffic jams and warnings about cameras, “Yandex Music” with personal playlists and “Yandex Books” with audiobooks. Services are synchronized via Yandex ID, navigation is duplicated on the digital dashboard. Maps can be downloaded and used offline.

A software update function “over the air” (OTA) has appeared: the firmware of the multimedia system can now be updated remotely without a visit to the dealer. The voice assistant (GWM’s own development) recognizes more than 800 commands and controls approximately 150 functions – from climate control to camera activation and head-up display. The system distinguishes which side the voice is coming from and has noise reduction.
For owners of pre-restyling cars
Haval promises that owners of the H9 of the previous model year will be able to install digital services (the Yandex Auto platform and voice assistant) from official dealers. The sales start date will be announced later, but the prices are already known: the Elite package is estimated at 4.7 million rubles, the Premium version at 5.2 million rubles.
