Haval switched to Cyrillic in Russia

Haval, following AvtoVAZ and the Tenet brand, translated the names of its car models into Cyrillic. The correspondent of Motor magazine was informed about this by the press service of the Great Wall Motor Rus concern. The changes are related to the entry into force of the law on the protection of the state language on March 1, 2026, which obliges the use of the Russian language in business communications, including signs and advertising.

“The process of Russification in relation to models and configurations is carried out in stages. At the moment, the names of the configurations have been fully translated into Russian and are presented in the current price lists and catalogs of the brand,” said the press service of the Chinese automobile corporation.

The company also explained that the Haval brand name and dealership signs with the City and Pro designations are registered trademarks. In this regard, their spelling cannot be changed and remains in the original English version.

It was previously reported that UAZ would rename the SUV for the first time in the history of the Hunter model.
