Honda changes the strategy: now the priority is not electric cars, but hybrids

Like a number of other manufacturers, Honda decided to respond to slow growth in demand for electric cars. Investments in the development of purely “green” machines will be reduced, and in the creation of hybrids – doubled. Until 2031, Honda will produce 13 benzoelectric cars, reports Carbuzz with reference to the head of the Tosikhiro Mibe company.

Demand for electric cars is growing much more slowly than expected, Mibe noted. Earlier, Honda was going to increase the volume of sales of electric cars to 30 percent of the total volume, but now the bar is reduced.

Mibe did not voiced the new goal. It is worth noting that up to 30 percent is very far away: last year there was only one percent of all Honda sales, which sold 3.6 million cars around the world.

Honda will experience its Honda ZR-V hydrogen technologies in space: the Japanese crossover from China Ford puts off the launch of new electric cars. Now the priority of the hybrids Mercedes-Benz recognized the failure of the plan of total electrification

As for hybrids, by the end of the decade, Honda plans to sell 2.2 million units annually. The new wave model will help in this: from 2027 to 2031, Honda will release up to 13. Some of them, intended for the US market, promise large dimensions, impressive running qualities and high towing capacity.

Despite the shift of the focus, Honda leaves no purpose to become completely carbon-neutral by 2050. She does not refuse the new Honda 0 electric cars that will enter the market next year. The first, probably, the light will see the crossover, and the sedan will make his debut.
