Honda released only 3 thousand electric cars on the Chinese platform

At the beginning of the year, Honda introduced the all-electric Insight, created together with Chinese partner Dongfeng. Initially, the model was called e:NS2, but after modification it was renamed Insight specifically for the Japanese market. Carscoops reports this.

Honda has set the price for an electric car in Japan at 5.5 million yen (approximately 2.6 million rubles). A government subsidy reduces the final cost to 4.2 million yen (approximately 2 million rubles). Considering that the share of electric vehicles in the Japanese market does not exceed 2%, the company plans to sell only three thousand of these cars.

Honda’s product planning manager explained that the company has set a small sales target based on the number of target customers and the brand’s share of the segment.

The new Honda Insight is built on the e:N Architecture F platform. The car is equipped with a front electric motor producing 201 hp. and a CATL traction battery with a capacity of 68.8 kWh. The power reserve on the WLTP cycle reaches 500 km – a decent indicator for a car with such a battery.

The Insight in Japan will be available in five colors (including Obsidian Blue Pearl and Aquatopers Metallic II) and with a black or white interior. The car’s interior features a head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a large central multimedia screen and a small digital instrument cluster. The equipment also includes heated front and rear seats, steering wheel and front door panels – which is especially important for the Japanese winter.
