Honda to recall Civic sedans due to risk of wheels coming off at speed

The problem affected more than 46 thousand cars produced in the UK, as well as in other European countries. The European Commission has initiated a recall campaign for cars that were produced from 2017 to 2021 due to improper tightening of wheel nuts during production.

“The problem is that, according to the European Commission, the wheel nut is not tightened with enough torque. This can lead to the nuts loosening while the vehicle is in motion, creating the risk of wheel loss, accident and injury,” reports Autoexpress.

Honda said it would begin contacting customers in early 2026, nine years after the potentially problematic vehicles began production. If necessary, car owners will be called to the dealership to fix the problem. At the same time, Honda assured car owners that they can continue to operate their cars.

German automaker Porsche has previously recalled its sports cars due to incorrect bolts: in 2024, the company recalled thousands of cars equipped with center-lock wheels for repairs. It turned out that their bolts did not meet the required specifications.

Earlier it became known that the Ford Fiesta could return to the market.
