It is expected that Hongqi HS9 will be a charged hybrid with two electric motors, a 2.0-liter turbo engine, a six- or seven-seater layout.

The official name HS9 PHEV is also selected symbolically: a sequential hybrid will probably replace in the model line a progressive for its time, but a commercially dubious E-HS9 electric car.
