How the Chinese Geely Emgrand sedan has risen in price over the year of its presence in Russia

The C-class sedan entered the Russian market in early November 2023, and at the start of sales the model cost 1,999,990 rubles. And with discounts when buying a car on credit and trade-in, you could buy an Emgrand for 1,799,990 rubles. Autonews.ru noticed that a year later the Geely Emgrand added less than two hundred rubles in all trim levels – now the starting price exceeds the threshold of two million rubles.

As of mid-December, the Geely Emgrand in Russia costs from 2,183,990 rubles without discounts – this is the retail price of a sedan in the entry-level Standard configuration and with a basic combination of a 1.5-liter engine (122 horsepower) and a five-speed manual transmission. Thus, since its appearance in Russia, Emgrand has added 184 thousand rubles. The modification with a six-speed automatic transmission now costs from 2,393,990 rubles, whereas at the start of sales it was offered for 2,209,990 rubles. The increase in price over the year is the same 184 thousand rubles.

Geely Emgrand is supplied to Russia from China, while in neighboring Belarus the model is produced at the Belgi plant. On the Belarusian market, Emgrand was recently launched under the Belgee brand and received the S50 index. It is not yet known whether the Belgee S50 will be sold in Russia, or whether the Chinese-assembled Emgrand will continue to be offered to Russians.

According to Autostat, from January to November 2024, Geely sold more than 140 thousand cars in Russia – this is 75.2 percent more than during the same period in 2023. The brand’s most popular model currently is the Monjaro crossover. In November, Russians bought more than three thousand of these cars, thanks to which Monjaro entered the top 10 most popular models on the market.
