Hyundai showed the Elantra sedan with an AI assistant and a design in the style of Lamborghini Urus

The South Korean automaker has officially unveiled the eighth generation of the Avante compact sedan, known in global markets as the Elantra. The premiere took place six years after the release of its predecessor, and the new product radically changes the idea of the class.

The car received an aggressive, chopped design within the framework of the “art of steel” concept. The most noticeable exterior details are the muscular front fenders, visually reminiscent of the Lamborghini Urus supercar, and split LED optics. Ultra-thin daytime running lights are located at the top, and the main headlight units are integrated into the massive bumper air intakes.

The profile of the new product has become more rapid thanks to the sloping roofline and expressive rear pillars, which brings it closer to the flagship Grandeur sedan. The rear looks futuristic: vertical and horizontal LED sections form a signature H-shaped light signature, while a massive diffuser and spoiler on the trunk lid emphasize the sporty character.

The new Elantra has grown noticeably in size compared to its predecessor: the length has reached 4765 mm (+55 mm), the width has reached 1855 mm (+30 mm), and the wheelbase has increased to 2750 mm (+30 mm). According to Hyundai, this has brought interior space closer to the level of mid-class cars.

The centerpiece of the interior is a 14.6-inch (or 12.9-inch) curved display with the latest Pleos Connect multimedia system. Its key feature is the built-in AI assistant “Gleo AI”, which can support natural dialogues and learn the driver’s preferences. Below the screen, physical buttons and controls are retained, and equipment includes a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system, a built-in camera, two wireless chargers and USB ports with 100W fast charging.

Two power units will be offered for the Korean market. The base one is a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, the power of which has increased by 26 hp. and now makes 147 hp. The hybrid version combines an economical 1.6-liter engine, a more powerful electric motor and a larger battery, producing a total of 155 hp. The system also features intelligent recuperation control and route prediction to improve efficiency.

It is expected that a “charged” version of the Elantra N will appear in the future, which, according to rumors, will receive a 2.5 turbo engine.

The new Avante will go on sale in Korea before the end of the year, with other markets including North America (as the 2027 Elantra) and possibly Europe arriving later.
