In Moscow, 22 people were injured in an accident with trams

The accident occurred on Volokolamsk Highway in the area of ​​building 1 on Vodnikov Street. Two trams collided on Sunday, March 15 at about 9:30 am. As a result of the accident, passengers received various injuries.

It was initially reported that 13 people were injured in the accident, including two children. Traffic from the street Svoboda on the Volokolamsk Highway towards the center was blocked, and representatives of emergency services arrived at the scene. Then the number of injured increased.

“The number of victims has increased to 22 people, including 5 children,” the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate clarified.

Both trams involved in the accident were following route No. 6, as specified in the Telegram channel “Deptrans. Promptly.”

“The causes and circumstances of the incident will be established by a special commission with the participation of specialists from the Moscow Metro and the tram manufacturer,” the message says.

One of the carriages was driven by an experienced driver with 23 years of experience. From the Bratsevo stop to the Sokol metro station, instead of trams, buses have been temporarily put on the line.

The Moscow prosecutor’s office has begun an investigation into the incident, as specified in the department’s Telegram channel. Telegram channel “112” clarifies that 21 people were hospitalized after the accident.
