On the roads of Russia, the number of accidents increased

Over the past three months of 2025, 24 thousand traffic accidents occurred in the country, Kommersant reports with reference to the traffic police. This is 1.9 percent more than in the same period of last year. The leader in the number of accidents Moscow, followed by the Krasnodar Territory, Nizhny Novgorod Region, St. Petersburg and the Moscow Region. These regions account for 20 percent of all incidents.

Despite the slight increase in the number of accidents in 2025, the dead were slightly less than a year ago-2.6 thousand (-0.8 percent). 30.6 thousand people (+1.4 percent) were injured in an accident. Most of the dead in the Krasnodar Territory, as well as in the Moscow, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod regions and in Bashkortostan.

The number of accidents with motorcycles is growing faster than the overall accident. There were more than 71.6 percent over the year. More than half – by 111.7 percent – the number of accidents with mopeds and equated vehicles increased, and with bicycles – by 51 percent.

From this year, the traffic police takes into account data on accidents with electric scooters and other personal mobility (SI) means. Since the beginning of the year, however, not a single accident has been recorded with them. The kikshering season has already started, but in Moscow, rental was suspended on April 6 due to bad weather.

Meanwhile, on the Moscow Ring Road, on the contrary, it decreases. The number of incidents was reduced in January-February by 34 percent compared to the same period last year, the Moscow Depotrans said. There were also fewer dead: their number decreased by 40 percent.
