In Moscow, the price of a taxi ride has increased by 2-3 times due to snowfall

However, the cost of travel from the center has not changed. TASS reports this.

“The cost of a taxi ride in Moscow on the morning of February 19 increased on some routes from the region to the center and to transport hubs up to 2-3 times due to snowfall,” the publication says.

Earlier, Yandex Taxi warned that on the morning of February 19, the duration of taxi trips in Moscow and the region could increase by 30% due to difficult weather conditions. The service explained that from 07:00 to 09:30 Moscow time, the number of people wanting to leave by taxi increases, which may result in a shortage of available cars. At such moments, an increased coefficient temporarily applies.

Leading employee of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Marina Makarova told TASS that the snowfall on February 19 could break two records at once – for the height of snow cover for February 20 and for the beginning of winter. Due to heavy snowfall in Moscow and the region, an orange alert level has been declared.
