In Russia, Volkswagen imports increased by 69% over the year

The main models that Russians imported into the country through alternative import channels were the Tiguan and Teramont crossovers. They accounted for two-thirds of the total supply of new cars. The range of used ones is more diverse.

In total, 37.2 thousand Volkswagen passenger cars were imported into Russia in 2025, of which 8.6 thousand units were new cars. Imports of new cars jumped up by 120%, used ones – by 58%. On average, deliveries increased by just 69%.

At the same time, more than 86% of new cars imported into Russia in 2025 are more powerful than 160 hp: since December, they have been subject to an increased recycling fee, making imports in many cases unprofitable.

Among used Volkswagens, on the contrary, for cars up to 160 hp. accounts for 70% of supplies. The leaders are Golf, Tiguan, Passat, Jetta and Tayron.

Earlier it became known that the vehicle fleet in Russia has grown almost twice as old in 10 years.
