Last week, the last copy of the Honored Model went from the assembly line in the speaker. The Tatra T815 life cycle lasted 42 years, because the production started in January 1983! A successful design and versatility allowed the truck to become popular with both civilian and military customers. The final copy will stand on the service in the fire department.

The total circulation of the Tatra T815 amounted to 158 065 copies, completed the era of a three -axle truck with a 6×4 wheeled formula and a “composite” cabin for a fire brigade. For four decades, the structure did not fundamentally change: Tatra has retained the famous ridge frame and independent pendant of the wheels. Civil buyers most often chose three-axle dump trucks, and for the army they ordered three-, four- or five-axle chassis or on-board versions.

The world fame of Tatra is due to victories in the Dakar rally marathon: Karel Loprais won six times in the test of trucks precisely at the wheel of T815. Also in the late 1980s, the automaker financed a round-the-world expedition with a modified ten-meter full-wheel drive. However, there was no advertisement, since the truck returned to Czechoslovakia after the fall of the communist regime.

In Russia, the T815 model is well familiar: we are popular with excavators, taps and dump trucks on the three -axle chassis. At the moment, Tatra mainly produces products for Czech state customers. In 2024, 1548 trucks were sold, of which over 600 went to the army.
