Jeep may bring the Avenger crossover to the US

The head of the North American division, Bob Broderdorf, said that the model is expected on the American market, as quoted by Motor Trend. Broderdorf said he initially wondered why Jeep executives were slow to launch the Avenger in the U.S. even though it is an “incredibly interesting product.” The model, we remind you, is sold in Europe, where it is offered both in an all-electric version and in a hybrid version, including all-wheel drive. The Avenger also has a petrol version.

The Avenger, the smallest crossover in the Jeep lineup, debuts in fall 2022. By mid-2024, Avenger became the brand’s sales driver, and in 2023 it was recognized as “Car of the Year” in Europe. The success is partly explained by the price: a crossover with a turbo engine and manual transmission costs only 25.3 thousand euros.

The electric Avenger is equipped with a 156-horsepower electric motor on the front axle, and the front-wheel drive version with an internal combustion engine is equipped with a 1.2-liter PureTech petrol turbocharger (100 horsepower). The hybrid Avenger e-Hybrid, in turn, is equipped with a 1.2 petrol engine with a 48-volt booster.

The all-wheel drive hybrid includes a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 136 horsepower, which transmits torque to the front axle through a six-speed robot with two clutches, and two electric motors with a capacity of 28 horsepower each. One of them is installed at the front, the second at the rear.

Meanwhile, in the United States, until recently, the most compact Jeep was the Renegade, but they decided to curtail its sales due to low demand. And although Jeep is developing a successor to this model, it will not appear any time soon – not until 2027. But things are not going well for the brand in the home market: sales have been falling for the sixth year in a row, and in 2024 they decreased by nine percent, to 587.7 thousand units.
