The Kama Automobile Plant will improve the conveyor from which the K5 truck cabs go, writes Interfax with reference to the manufacturer’s press service. Thanks to this, in a year, KamAZ can produce up to 60 thousand such cabs annually.
At the end of July of this year, the car factory plans to complete the first stage of the project, designed for the release of 35 thousand cabs of K5 per year. If everything goes according to plan, the second stage will end in March 2026.
KAMAZ does not have a lack of orders, their representatives say. Last year, the plant produced 41.7 thousand trucks, including 6.5 thousand tractors of the K5 generation.
KAMAZ began to produce new tractors of increased cross-country ability: prices in Russia forbidden to sell Chinese SHACMAN-SHACMAN dump trucks in Kamazy introduced a voice assistant
Meanwhile, the net loss of KAMAZ for 2024 amounted to 3.35 billion rubles against the profit of 11.9 billion rubles according to the results of 2023. The revenue over 12 months decreased by 8.8 percent, to 323.4 billion. At the Kama plant, they explained this by “radical changes in the economy under external pressure”, adding that “the situation should not be dramatized”.
So, according to the results of last year, KamAZ first in history lost leadership in Russia among heavy trucks. The Chinese Sitrak was knocked out in the first place, which sold 19.4 thousand units, and KamAZ took the second line with 17.2 thousand cars. The third and fourth places also went to the Chinese: Shaacman realized 15.7 thousand trucks, and FAW – 11.6 thousand.
