KIA confirmed the development of a new US market pickup

At the KIA event for investors, it was announced that an innovative electric pickup would appear in North America. According to preliminary data, we are talking about the medium-sized model of a la Ford Ranger or Toyota Tacoma, and the Korean company intends to occupy seven percent of the market and sell 90 thousand copies annually. The Kia Tasman frame fuel truck in the United States will not appear.

Logic suggests that the KIA electric pickup is written in the North American factory. Otherwise, it will not be possible to offer competitive prices and take a tangible market share. The main candidate is the Hyundai plant opened at the end of March in Georgia. Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 are also released there, and in 2026 the conveyor will replenish the KIA electric car.

Light weight: What is the first Hyundai pickup for? Truck for Zumers: what was surprised by the new Kia Tasman Electric pickups: who needs it and why?

The mule of KIA electric beams has already come across to eyewitnesses, but under camouflage it was possible to see a “compromise” body with a number of parts from existing models. The company representative confirmed the development of the electrical version of the TASMAN pickup, and now it is not entirely clear: these are two different projects, or the same concept that was described differently.

Most likely in the United States will be offered an electric bundle with a supporting body and independent rear suspension, that is, you can really not dream about unification with Kia Tasman. The novelty will be ideologically similar to the Hyundai Santa Cruz. There is no need to talk about the timing of the debut, but in the next two years the model is unlikely to appear.
