In 2026, inspections are mandatory for trucks, ride-sharing vehicles, buses, taxis, educational and older vehicles, as well as any paid passenger commercial vehicles. Automotive lawyer Lev Voropaev spoke about this in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru.
βThe first category of vehicles that need to undergo technical inspection this year are, naturally, taxis, car sharing, buses, minibuses, as well as other commercial vehicles that are used to transport passengers for a fee. They must, if their age does not exceed five years, undergo a technical inspection annually. If they are older than five years, then every six months,β the lawyer said.
According to him, trucks weighing over 3.5 tons undergo technical inspection differently depending on their age. Cars younger than five years old β once a year, those older than five years β once every six months. The same requirements apply to trucks used to transport passengers.
Voropaev added that training vehicles must undergo technical inspection every six months. A different rule applies for passenger cars: if the car is older than four years, any registration actions with the traffic police (for example, registration) are required to undergo a technical inspection.
