Lawyer Voropaev: an overdue technical inspection may result in a fine

Those drivers who are required by law to undergo a technical inspection will be punished, auto lawyer Lev Voropaev told Gazeta.Ru.

“Under Article 12.5, Part 1.1 of the Administrative Code, the fine is 2 thousand rubles, but it is important to understand that this fine can only be imposed on those drivers driving vehicles for which inspection in accordance with federal law is mandatory,” the lawyer explained.

He clarified that the penalty for lack of technical inspection does not apply to owners of passenger cars, for whom the procedure is voluntary. Fines are provided only for taxis, buses, trucks and other vehicles subject to mandatory diagnostics.
