Mercedes-Benz has updated the large GLS crossover

During the modernization, the flagship of the crossover line received more powerful engines, the latest generation media system and other improvements. From the outside, the new product can be easily distinguished by its larger radiator grille. The manufacturer claims that 3 thousand new or modified components were introduced during the update.

All versions are equipped with a complex of three 12.3-inch screens covered with a common glass. To control the media system, the MBUX virtual assistant is used based on artificial intelligence technologies.

The basic modification of the GLS 450 retained the three-liter 6-cylinder engine producing 375 hp. But the engineers managed to increase the torque to 560 Nm (from 500).

Under the hood of the top-end GLS 580 is an updated four-liter V8 that produces 530 hp. maximum power and 750 Nm of torque instead of 510 hp. and 730 Nm.

The proprietary Airmatic air suspension is standard equipment, and the GLS 580 has an E-Active Body Control system that adjusts the suspension up to 1 thousand times per second.

There is also an assistant for monitoring the distance to curb stones: it will allow the driver of a large car to avoid “curb disease”, that is, accidental damage to the wheel rims.
