The CARSCOOPS portal found out that the automaker will still solve the problem with charging an electric car. The representative of Mercedes-Benz confirmed: all buyers from the USA will receive electric cars with a voltage converter and will be able to charge from ordinary public 400-volt charges with direct current and the Tesla Supercharger network. Initially, the new CLA was deprived of such a function.
At the beginning of the month, it turned out that the new Mercedes-Benz CLA supports only 800-volt exercises with varying current, and this decision was ambiguous by both journalists and potential buyers. The fact is that the popular 400-volt terminals were not available to the sedan, and in the conditions of the undeveloped infrastructure of charging stations, this could be a problem.

Now Mercedes-Benz tried to explain that the rate on 800-volt technology concerns the “limited initial supply of machines to demonstrate the possibilities of fast charging.” Since 2026, the voltage converter will enter the standard equipment, therefore, 400-volt and 800-volt devices will be compatible with the novelty. Interestingly, the structure had to be changed even before the start of “client” supplies.
In most markets, Mercedes-Benz Cla is still in pre-orders: “living” cars are in a demonstration form, but are not available for purchase. However, almost the entire family is formed: in China, the elongated sedan made his debut, the configurator was launched, and only the Shooting Brake station wagon remains secret.
