The expert warned motorists about the serious consequences of incorrect wheel alignment, which is often popularly called “wheel alignment.” As Sergei Pletnev, director of after-sales service at Avtodom Group of Companies, told Gazeta.Ru, neglect of this procedure or incorrect settings lead to several problems at once.
Thus, when the angles deviate from the norm, the resistance to movement increases, and the ratio between the angles of rotation of the steered wheels also changes. This directly impairs the vehicle’s handling, which ultimately reduces road safety.
In addition, incorrect wheel alignment causes increased tire wear and excessive fuel consumption, since the engine begins to work under overload, the expert noted.
The driver may not feel the difference immediately, but regular overpayments at gas stations will become a noticeable signal of a problem. To avoid negative consequences, Sergey Pletnev recommends carrying out preventive diagnostics of the car at a service center at least twice a year – in spring and autumn. During such an inspection, specialists must check the wheel alignment angles.
Timely detection of deviations and subsequent adjustment will help prevent serious wear of parts and maintain fuel efficiency, the expert concluded.
