Ford is losing ground: the brand, which for three years in a row led the US in the number of recalls due to defects, lost first place to Tesla. Moreover, the second place was also taken: in 2024 it was taken by the Stellantis concern, which includes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat. Thus, Ford with its premium Lincoln brand ended up third.

Since the beginning of 2024, Tesla has announced only 15 recalls, but in terms of the number of problem cars it has surpassed all other manufacturers. Thus, Tesla recalled 5.14 million vehicles, Stellantis – 4.72 million, and Ford – 4.37 million. Stellantis carried out 67 service campaigns during the year, Ford – 62.

Last year, by comparison, Stellantis had 45 reviews. Ford sent cars for repairs 54 times: that is, the shares themselves increased, but the number of affected vehicles decreased from 5.69 million.

Fourth place went to Honda and Acura, which were not even in the top ten last year. Japanese brands have collectively announced 18 recalls on 3.8 million vehicles. Rounding out the top five is General Motors with 33 stocks covering 3.3 million vehicles.

Next come BMW, Toyota and Lexus, Kia, Hyundai and Genesis, Volkswagen and Audi. It is worth noting that Subaru had only one recall for the entire year, affecting 118.7 thousand cars. And last place was taken by Ferrari, also with one recall and four supercars that required repairs.

One of the most frequently recalled Tesla models is the Cybertruck pickup truck. In October, tens of thousands of units were sent for repairs due to a faulty rear view camera, and recently a problem with the tire pressure indicator was discovered on the Cybertruck, Model Y and Model 3. Owners of almost 700 thousand electric cars will have to visit the service.
