New details have emerged about the return of SsangYong to Russia

In fact, the SsangYong brand no longer exists: after the Korean automaker was on the verge of bankruptcy, the KG Group took control of it and renamed it KGM. In November of this year, it became known that KGM cars would be officially sold in Russia – deliveries would be organized by Rex Motors. Now Rex Motors has declassified the specifications of the KGM Korando, which will go on sale during 2025.

KGM Korando is expected at dealers in the first quarter of 2025 – by that time the model must receive Vehicle Type Approval in order to be officially sold in Russia. Rex Motors promises to bring crossovers equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine producing 163 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with a classic six-speed Aisin automatic transmission.

There are three equipment levels to choose from: City, Dream and Icon. The Korando Ciry will have front-wheel drive, the Dream will be available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and the Icon is exclusively all-wheel drive. The crossover is promised a Russified multimedia system with an eight-inch screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

SsangYong will return to Russia, but with a different name: the timing is known. The cost of new SsangYong in Russia has become known. Former SsangYong will produce cars in Iran

Depending on the configuration, the KGM Korando will receive front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags. Adaptive cruise control, an autonomous emergency braking system, lane departure warning and adaptive lane keeping systems, a high beam control system and a directional stability system are announced.

The KGM Korando, which is produced in South Korea, will be sold in Russia. The cars have a five-year warranty.

It is worth noting that the old SsangYong was loved in Russia – Sollers was involved in deliveries. At the turn of 2018–2019, the brand left the market, dealers sold out the last cars, and for several years Russians forgot about SsangYong. With the legalization of parallel imports, several KGM/SsangYong models began to be transported individually into the country – in particular, Rexton Sports pickups and Torres crossovers can be found on classifieds.
