An experimental copy of the JAC JS9 SUV was photographed in the parking lot of a dealership. According to information provided by the publication “Chinese Cars” with reference to the dealer, a particular car recently underwent road tests before the start of local production. The JS9 is based on the T9 pickup truck.
JAC JS9 will also be sold under the Russian Sollers brand, and the production of both cars will be carried out by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, which is currently undergoing a major modernization for the sake of these projects.
To assemble new products, UAZ built a separate conveyor. The SUV will have several differences from the original utility vehicle: an original interior, as well as its own engine calibrations.
Up to the B-pillar, the SUV and pickup truck bodies are identical, but the SUV’s rear doors are larger and the rear is redesigned. However, the lights are unified, and the trunk is made according to a simple design – with a lifting door.
The length of the new product will be 5200 mm, width – 1965 mm, and height – 1920 mm. Under the hood there will be a 2-liter turbo engine, which can be derated to 200 hp for tax benefits.
The transmission will feature a classic 8-speed automatic transmission. The drive is a classic full part-time type, complemented by a reduction gear and a rear cross-axle differential lock.
