Sollers switched production of pickup trucks and SUVs to galvanized metal

The Sollers Group is switching to using galvanized body parts in the production of the Sollers line of pickup trucks. The supplier of rolled metal is the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), reports the press service of the Russian automaker.

Parts made from Russian galvanized steel are used for the production of Sollers ST6 (ST6), ST8 (ST8) and ST9 (ST9) pickups. In the near future, the range of models will be supplemented by the new Sollers S9 (C9) SUV.

The nomenclature includes external body elements (fenders, side frames, roof panels, hood, doors, floors), as well as hidden components of the front body and interior panels of the passenger compartment.

Before this, it became known when UAZ would launch production of a completely new SUV. Production of Sollers S9 (C9) using a full cycle method with stamping, welding and painting of bodies is scheduled for September 2026.

The project is based on the Chinese JAC JS9, and the production of both cars will be carried out by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, which is currently undergoing a major modernization for the sake of these projects.

The length of the new product will be 5200 mm, width – 1965 mm, and height – 1920 mm. Under the hood there will be petrol and diesel engines mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
