Nissan dismisses the general director who has not agreed with Honda

On March 11, the company’s board of directors reported important personnel permutations: Makoto Uchida, who has been holding the post of chief executive director for five years, will resign. On April 1, 2025, the 46-year-old Ivan Espinosis, now the Chief Director of Planning, will take its place. It has been working in Nissan since 2003. In addition, the manufacturer struggling for survival replaced a number of other top managers.

Makoto Uchida took office in 2019 after a scandal with Carlos Gon-the former head of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Corporation, who was accused of financial fraud.

Uchida successfully led the company after the pandemic, but in recent years everything has changed: the sales have sharply reduced and Nissan began to show low financial results.

“Today, the main priority of Nissan is to get out of the current situation as soon as possible and return the company to the growth path,” said Uchida, commenting on the decision of the board of directors.
