Nissan will release a new generation of Terrano SUV

Representatives of the Japanese brand reported this to Motor magazine on the sidelines of the Beijing Motor Show. As part of the exhibition, the public was presented with the Nissan Terrano PHEV Concept, on the basis of which a production car will be created. The PHEV prefix means that the future model will have a hybrid powertrain.

The name Terrano is familiar to the Russian public. From 1986 to 2003, frame SUVs were produced under this name, and from 2013 to 2022, a Russian-assembled compact crossover based on the Renault Duster was called Terrano.

In the new generation, the car will receive a frame base. The most likely contender to share units is the Nissan Frontier Pro pickup truck, produced by the Zhengzhou Nissan joint venture.

The hybrid Nissan Frontier Pro is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (147 hp, 220 Nm), which performs the tasks of a generator, and the car is driven by a BorgWarner electric motor.

The base Dongfeng Z9 PHEV has a peak output of 326 hp. and 800 Nm, a battery with a capacity of 17 kilowatt-hours is installed without a fast charging function, and the electric range is up to 60 km (WLTC).

In top-end pickups, the power plant develops up to 435 hp. and 800 Nm, battery with a capacity of 32.85 kilowatt-hours. The battery supports “supercharger” and provides autonomy of up to 135 km.
