Renault presented a vehicle for monitoring UAVs in Paris

The 4 Troop prototype, a tactical multi-role vehicle developed by Renault Group and defense giant Thales, is being shown at Eurosatory 2026. Essentially, this is a civilian SUV that has been turned into a full-fledged mobile command center that powers military drones and monitors the operational situation on the battlefield.

The vehicle is built on the basis of one of Renault’s serial platforms and is equipped with military electronic systems. The list of equipment includes: an integrated control system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground robots, advanced sensors, hybrid secure communication channels and artificial intelligence for decision support. Smart filling allows you to coordinate troops, conduct reconnaissance, accompany convoys and protect objects.

Manufacturers do not disclose technical details, but it is known that the car is all-wheel drive, with a hybrid power plant, which also provides covert movement and a significant range. Also, the mobile command post can act as a base for drones and a mobile generator to power field equipment.

Some components of the military vehicle are unified with civilian Renault models – SUVs and commercial vans. This simplifies repairs and reduces production and logistics costs. Moreover, Renault is ready to undertake after-sales service for such vehicles for the entire service life.

While this is only a prototype, the launch date for the series has not been announced. But the French military is already testing the concept: the vehicle is fully compatible with their existing digital control systems and secure communications standards. The idea is simple – take a proven civilian base and quickly adapt it to the needs of the army, without lengthy development from scratch.
