In China, the main demand is shifted towards electric vehicles and hybrids, while petrol models popular in Russia (Haval Jolion, Chery Tiggo 7 L and the like) are perceived as budget provincial cars. Some of them (for example, Jolion) did not find a response from local buyers and were withdrawn from the market. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to an interviewed expert.
The automobile markets of Russia and China are radically different from each other. In China, almost half of all new car sales are electric vehicles and hybrids. Thanks to the reduction in the cost of key components of power plants, such cars are comparable in price to gasoline classmates. In addition, low lending rates and low inflation allow the Chinese to update their cars with enviable regularity.
The sales leaders in China are electric cars – for example, Xiaomi YU7 and Tesla Model Y. In Russia, due to high customs duties, they automatically move into the heavy luxury segment. Gasoline models that are in demand in the Russian Federation (Haval Jolion, Chery Tiggo 7 L and others) are positioned in the Middle Kingdom as budget cars for the provinces. In particular, Haval Jolion quickly left the Chinese market due to a lukewarm reception.
Despite all the differences, the Russian and Chinese car markets have a common point of intersection – the Geely Monjaro. Last year, this model became the most popular gasoline SUV in China. In Russia it is also in consistently high demand. Experts attribute this to the successful design of the car, which turned out to be in demand in a variety of conditions.
