RIA Novosti: Kamnev proposed increasing the limit of payments for car repairs under OSAGO

The amount for car repairs is planned to increase from 400 to 700 thousand rubles, for damage to life and health – to 800 thousand. rubles It is also proposed to index these payments annually. RIA Novosti reports this.

“The bill provides for an increase in insurance limits for damage to life and health – from 500 thousand to 800 thousand rubles, for property – from 400 thousand to 700 thousand rubles, as well as the introduction of a mechanism for annual indexation of insurance amounts taking into account the consumer price index (core inflation),” says the accompanying documents to the bill.

Co-author of the bill Georgy Kamnev (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) explained that the current payment limits for compulsory motor insurance do not correspond to real expenses. They do not cover the costs of repairs and treatment due to the rise in prices of spare parts and services. The parliamentarian recalled that insurance amounts have not been indexed since 2014, while the price of the policy is growing annually.

According to the politician, the victim of an accident is forced to pay extra for repairs and treatment from his own pocket. Kamnev emphasized: everything is becoming more expensive except insurance guarantees. In addition, the current methodology for calculating repair costs does not always objectively reflect the actual damage.
