Russia has established the priority of environmentally friendly cars during public procurement

According to the government’s website, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the priority of environmentally friendly transport during procurement for state and municipal needs. This means that now officials and services are required to purchase machines operating on electricity and natural gas. And to buy cars with a conventional ICE, justification will be required.

The government explained that the purchase of vehicles with gasoline or diesel engines is allowed in exceptional cases, and this requires justification. For example, a justification may be the absence of gas refueling or electric charging stations in the region where it is planned to operate the machine.

The new resolution makes it impossible without justification to purchase domestic AvtoVAZ cars, with the exception of those that are equipped with gas equipment. It is assumed that the innovation “will help improve the ecology and will support the domestic auto industry that produces environmentally friendly transport.”

At the end of last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation expanded the list of machines recommended for priority use by civil servants, adding Lada Aura and Xcite X-Cross 8 to it. The list includes more than 40 models of 14 marks, and it is regularly replenished-it adds cars with a Russian Vin-Nomer, which is produced in the Russian Federation as part of investment contracts.
