Russian car market became the fifth in Europe in January

In 2024, the Russian market was able to rise to [четвертую строчку](https://motor.ru/news/rus-sales-22-01-2025.htm) in the European standings, but according to the results of January rolled up to the fifth, writes Avtostat with a link to the data of the European Association of automakers (ASEA). The leader in the region is still Germany, where 207,640 new cars were sold in the first month of the year. This is 2.8 percent less than in January 2024.

The second place with a large lag took the UK. There, in January, 139,345 cars were sold – 2.5 percent less than in January 2024. Italy is closed by the three leaders of the leaders with 133,731 by a car and a market fall by 5.8 percent.

The fourth position this time was taken by France, the result of which is 114,673 cars (-6.2 percent). In Russia, according to Avtostat, 89,072 new cars were sold. This is 11 percent more than a year ago, but the lag from France is still significant.

Sales in Spain increased by 5.3 percent, which was on the sixth line of the rating. There in January 72,322 cars were sold. In other countries, the indicator could not reach 50 thousand.

Meanwhile, the spending of Russians on domestic cars grew one and a half times. In January, 49.3 billion rubles were spent on them. This is due not only to the growth of expenses for new cars as a whole, but also by the displacement of the focus of buyers towards Russian products. At the same time, the “Chinese” are still dominated by the financial structure of the market.
