Russian car market in August set a local record

Over the past summer month, the Russians bought 122.2 thousand new cars, calculated in Avtostat. This is a record since the beginning of the year. The previous maximum was reached in July – 120.6 thousand pieces. That is, the market has been setting records for the second month in a row, but it still does not reach the indicators of last year.

In August 2024, 148.3 thousand new cars were sold on the Russian market. That is, the August 2025 indicator is 17.6 percent lower. According to the results of January-August, the market also noticeably sank-by 23 percent, up to 773.3 thousand cars.

Lada still leads, which sold 27.6 thousand cars in a month and occupied 22.6 percent of the market. The second place again went to Haval with 16 thousand units, Cher with 11 thousand sank into the third. It is followed by Geely (8.7 thousand cars) and Belgee (7.8 thousand).

Further, the ten leaders are Changan (7 thousand units), Jetour (4.5 thousand), Solaris (3.7 thousand), Toyota (2.99 thousand) and Omoda (2.98 thousand). It is interesting that Toyota returned to the top 10 after almost a year: the last time she took a place in it in October 2024.

Geely sales (by 40.1 percent) were most noticeable, and Belgee sales grew (2.2 times).

As for the models, the primacy holds Lada Granta with 12.9 thousand copies and a fall of 31.4 percent in annual comparison. It is followed by HAVAL JOLION (6.6 thousand and -25.8 percent), which overtook Lada Vesta (6.3 thousand and -43.9 percent). The fourth place was taken by the Belgee X50 (5.1 thousand and +59.6 percent), the fifth – Cheri Tiggo 7l (3.8 thousand, appeared on sale recently).
