The project was prepared by specialists from the Filatov design and construction bureau. The uniqueness of the new solution lies in the use of folding propellers located in special compartments on the sides of the airmobile. In this case, the propeller engines can be powered from an electric, hydraulic or hydrogen energy source.
The flying car is equipped with a two-seat capsule cabin with a passenger rescue system similar to military aircraft. In the event of an emergency, the outer glazing is folded back and the capsule flies up using squibs. For a safe descent, the structure is equipped with rescue parachutes, as well as a speed reduction system for a soft landing. According to the developers, this technology will be effective even at low altitudes.

In addition to flying, the vehicle can travel on roads like a regular car. Thanks to autonomous driving systems, lidars and sensors, the car is capable of driving, taking off and flying in completely unmanned mode. If necessary, the driver can take control at any time.
During the design process, specialists used VR technologies, which made it possible to create a virtual scene in which you can evaluate the design and also check the ergonomics of the flying car. For greater immersion, the designers created a special stand that exactly copies the chair and steering wheel of the IF-9.
