Against the background of the reduction in the car market, expenses fell: in May, residents of the Russian Federation bought new cars for 285.2 billion rubles. This is 22.2 percent less than in the same month of 2024, TASS reports with reference to the data of Gazprombank Autolyting and the Avtostat analytical agency. The fall compared to April of 2025-12.5 percent.

In April, the Russians spent 325.7 billion rubles on the purchase of new cars, analysts calculated. In May 2024, this indicator amounted to 366.3 billion.

Interestingly, the amount of expenses on the “Koreans” has grown. In May, the Russians bought 5.7 billion rubles from South Korea, which is 2.7 percent more than in April. Speaks on cars from other countries, including Russia, were reduced. The Japanese took 9.1 percent less (16 billion), for European – 11.2 percent (41.5 billion), for American – 23.7 percent less (2.9 billion).

The products of the domestic automobile industry cost customers 46.1 billion rubles (-13 percent). Most of all, it was expected to go to the “Chinese” – 163 billion, but the companies from the PRC in May lost in revenue. They earned less than 13.5 percent.
