Russians’ spending on used cars in March reached a record 568 billion rubles

This is 14% more than in February (496.4 billion rubles), TASS reports, citing a study by Gazprombank Autoleasing and Autostat.

The lion’s share of the funds (231.6 billion rubles) went to cars older than 10 years, which occupied 70% of the secondary market in unit terms.

Spending on cars of Japanese brands increased noticeably: 172.7 billion rubles were spent on them (+15% compared to February), and their share in monetary terms increased from 26.4% to 30.2%. Purchases of European brands took 197 billion rubles, Korean brands – 68.7 billion rubles.

It is interesting that expenses for used Chinese (50.7 billion rubles) and Russian (51.3 billion rubles) cars were almost equal, but American used cars cost buyers 26.8 billion rubles, the study notes.
