The head of the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, Mikhail Chernikov, admitted that a road sign with the direction of travel in such a situation must be placed.
“In the situation you described, there appears to be a violation of the mandatory requirements contained in the national standard GOST R 52 289−2019 “Technical means of traffic management. Rules for the use of road signs, markings, traffic lights, road barriers and guide devices,” Chernikov answered a question from a magazine reader.
He added that according to the current GOST, “Exit to a one-way road” signs indicating the direction must be installed at all exits to a one-way road. If there is no sign, the head of the traffic police advised to contact local authorities or the local traffic police department.
