Sales of plug-in hybrids in the Russian Federation increased by 66%

In January 2026, 3,820 passenger plug-in hybrids (PHEV/EREV) were registered in Russia, which is 66% more than a year earlier. The head of the analytical agency Avtostat, Sergei Tselikov, reported this on his Telegram channel.

Even against the background of a general decline in the car market by 16% in 2025, sales of plug-in hybrids increased by 9%, reaching 44.8 thousand units.

In January, there was a noticeable shift in the top 5 brands. The leader was the Russian-assembled Chinese Voyah with 871 vehicles sold and an increase of 90%. Next comes Geely, whose success is associated with profitable deliveries of the EX5 EM-i model through Belarus and the Galaxy Starship 7 crossover through alternative channels.

The former leader Lixiang, which rose in price after officially entering the market, lost a third of sales (-33%) and dropped to third place, which may indicate the priority of price for buyers over the official guarantee. The top five also included the Russian Evolute and the Chinese Lynk & Co, while Exeed with the sub-brand Exlantix (183 units) dropped out of it.

It was previously reported that Mazda plans to revive the rotary RX-7 coupe.
