Seres received a patent for a toilet built into a car seat

The patent, titled “Vehicle Integrated Toilet Device and Vehicle,” was filed on April 22, 2025 and officially approved on April 10, 2026, Carnewschina reports. The device may appear in Aito brand cars.

According to the description, the device consists of a toilet body and runners. The guide is installed on the top of the body and attached to the car seat.

If necessary, the toilet pulls out from under the seat and, after use, slides back in, taking up minimal space in the cabin. The key innovation lies in the maximum use of space: in cramped interior conditions, especially in electric vehicles, where almost all the space under the floor is occupied by the battery, Seres engineers were able to completely hide the device in an unused area under the seat, achieving inconspicuousness.

While mass production of such a device remains in doubt, it is expected that it could appear as a personalized option for individual customers.

The editors of CarNewsChina, commenting on the patent, suggest that this may just be a marketing gimmick.
