Serial production of the new Skoda Elroq electric car has started

The model, which recently began to be assembled at the plant in Mlada Boleslav, was presented last fall. Elroq has become a landmark for the Czech brand: it is not only the most affordable electric crossover, which costs the same as a car in the same class with an internal combustion engine, but also the first car in the new Modern Solid corporate style. Accepting orders is already open, prices for Elroq start from 33.9 thousand euros (3.5 million rubles). By comparison, it’s only a few hundred euros more expensive than the petrol-powered Karoq.

At the main Skoda plant in Mladá Boleslav, where Elroq production was launched, the electric Enyaq and the Octavia family are assembled, but not all – the Octavia was partially moved to the assembly site in Kvasiny in order to free up production capacity in Mladá Boleslav. Skoda expects to produce 600 Elroq units per day.

Elroq is based on the modular MEB platform developed by Volkswagen. The crossover has MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear, and the rear brakes are drums. The length of the electric car is 4.48 meters versus 4.39 meters for the Karoq, the width is 1.88 versus 1.84 meters, and the height is 1.62 versus 1.6 meters. The wheelbase of the Elroq is 2765 millimeters, and the Karoq is 2638. The ground clearance of the new electric crossover is 186 millimeters, the aerodynamic drag coefficient is 0.26-0.28, depending on the modification.

In Europe, the new product is offered in four versions. The cheapest Elroq 50 is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 170 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, a battery capacity of 55 kilowatt-hours, and it provides up to 375 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. The Elroq 60 is also rear-wheel drive, but its electric motor already develops 204 horsepower, the battery is 63-kilowatt, and it lasts for more than 400 kilometers.

The third rear-wheel drive version in the range is the most powerful: Elroq 85 has an electric motor with 286 horsepower. Finally, the all-wheel drive Elroq 85x has two electric motors with a total output of 299 horsepower. The battery capacity is 82 kilowatt-hours, and one charge is enough for 560 kilometers.
