Sollers explained why UAZ SUVs were not included in the list of taxis

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has published a list of cars for taxi service. The new list included 22 items, and it turned out that UAZ SUVs – Patriot and Hunter – would not be allowed for taxi transportation. The Sollers company, which owns the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, commented on the situation.

“We informed the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade that we see no prospects for operating UAZ vehicles as taxis,” the company said.

According to Sollers representatives, taxi transportation does not require the unique off-road qualities that Hunter and Patriot can boast of.

But minivans of the Sollers brand can carry passengers – these are models SP7 and SF1, which are produced by the company’s plant in Yelabuga, Tatarstan.
