Step back: Renault again offered diesel Megane in Europe

In 2022, the French company brought Magane E-Tech to the electric car, and they wanted to reduce the life cycle of the “hydrocarbon” family. The production of the Megane hatchbacks in Spain ended, but in Turkey the sedans of the same name remained on the conveyor. Now Renault has quietly returned to the fuel Megane: first in Europe, gasoline modifications were offered, and now diesel!

Two and a half years ago, Renault looked optimistic at the electric future, and there was no place in it fuel Megane. However, now the conjuncture has changed, and in Eastern Europe they decided to return to traditional versions. The gasoline Renault Megane with the 1.3 TCE engine returned to the gamut in June 2024, and now the sedan was offered with a 1.5 DCI turbodiesel.

Poland became the debut market. There is no electrification, but with a diesel engine (115 hp and 270 nm), only a 7-speed “robot” EDC is combined, although there used to be an alternative in the form of a 6-speed “mechanics”. Lovers of the manual gearbox remains to choose a gasoline version (140 hp, 240 nm).

Rich in the configuration: the default diesel is equipped with a virtual instrument panel, a media system with a 7-inch touchscreen, a two-zone climate control, six safety pillows, strip control systems and automatic launch systems. In the top version of the Tachskrin with a diagonal of 9.3 inches, adaptive cruise control and completely LED optics.

In Poland, they were surprised not only by the very fact of the return of the diesel Renault Megane, but also to prices. A sedan with a 1.5 DCI engine costs from 113,900 zlotys (29 thousand dollars), that is, the model has become the most affordable diesel car in the country. The declared fuel consumption is 4.6-4.7 liters per 100 kilometers, and there is no doubt in the success of the model. The gasoline option costs from 101,900 zlotys (26 thousand dollars).
