On January 18, 2025, Mecum Kissimmee will auction off a rare 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham armored limousine originally built for US President Bill Clinton. The car is one of three examples made for the head of state when he took office.
The limousine differs from the standard model with a roof height increased by 7.6 centimeters and bulletproof doors 7.6 centimeters thick. The vehicle is equipped with an on-board oxygen supply and fire extinguishing system, special run-flat tires and a variety of other safety equipment. Under the hood is a Chevrolet Big-Block V8 engine with approximately 450 horsepower.

The Cadillac up for auction has only 626 miles (just over 1,000 kilometers) on the odometer, indicating it has seen little use compared to Clinton’s other two limousines. One of them is in the museum of the former president, and the second was never released to the CIA for free circulation. The US government spent about $6 million to build all three cars.
In the summer, a service Mercedes-Benz S-Class that belonged to the country’s first president, Boris Yeltsin, was sold in Russia. The bulletproof limousine was manufactured by the German studio Trasco Bremen by order of the Special Purpose Garage. The car was used both for the daily trips of the head of state and for meetings with high-ranking guests, such as German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
