The winner of the WCOTY-2026 award was the electric crossover BMW iX3. For the first time in 20 years, BMW was recognized as the best car in the world in 2006: in 2006, the award went to the BMW 3-Series.

The Mazda 6e (EZ-6), an electrified Mazda EZ-6 liftback created by the Chinese-Japanese joint venture Changan Mazda, won the Design of the Year category.
