In the fall, the average bill for car maintenance and repair was 10.5 thousand rubles – 26 percent more than in September-November 2023, Izvestia writes, citing data from Fit Service car services. The main factors that cause the price to rise are inflation and the increase in the cost of work for service employees. The changed approach of Russians to car care also has an impact.

The Union of Automobile Services of Russia has different data: according to its calculations, in the fall of this year, car maintenance and repairs became only 16 percent more expensive compared to the same period in 2023.

The most noticeable increase in price was the removal and installation of engine protection – by 56 percent. Almost a third (31 percent) increased the cost of troubleshooting electrical equipment, and 36 percent increased the cost of servicing the front caliper guides. The search for oil and other technical fluid leaks in the engine has become 20 percent more expensive.

In addition to inflation and the price of standard hours for service employees, the final price is affected by the increase in the cost of renting premises and electricity. In addition, Russian car owners began to more carefully monitor the condition of their cars, trying to extend their life.

The growth of the secondary market has led to a shortage of spare parts in Russia Subaru unexpectedly launched sales of locally produced merchandise in Russia Car servicing has become more expensive in Russia

As a result, both the number of hours spent per client and the number of spare parts in the receipt increase. And the work itself becomes more difficult as the cars age: the life of a car by one owner has increased to about seven years, experts say.

In some cases, repairs are complicated by the lack of access to the manufacturer’s technical data. Moreover, it is not only the departed brands that hide them, but also the Chinese. In November, the Ministry of Industry and Trade was proposed to oblige manufacturers and importers to share data: such a practice should help repair cars more efficiently.

In Russia they chose the car of the year. Spoiler: he’s Chinese
