The average fine for traffic violations has sharply increased in Russia

In the spring of this year, Russian drivers on average were fined 930 rubles, calculated at MTS Bank. This is one and a half times more than in the spring of 2024. The reason for the leap is to tighten punishments from January 1 of this year. Then fines increased for “popular” violations, including speeding. In addition, the discount for quick payment decreased from 50 to 25 percent.

A record fine was discharged in the Udmurtia in the spring: the truck driver was fined 525 thousand rubles for excess of the permissible dimensions of the vehicle.

Most often, Russians catch fines for speeding by 20–40 kilometers per hour. This violation accounts for 60 percent of all sentences. The Russians are less likely to come across non -compliance with the rules of movement through railway tracks, turning or reverse in places where such maneuvers are prohibited, and a second exit to a strip intended for oncoming traffic.
