The remake, created on the basis of the original drawings, but improved in all respects, will cost 295 thousand pounds sterling. A total of 150 of these machines will be produced.
The British company Boreham Motorworks will restart production of the Ford Escort RS2000 model from the 70s of the last century. All planned 150 copies will be entirely identical to the original, and will even receive the following chassis numbers on the list. The meaning here is the same as that of Jaguar continuation models, and the price too – from 295 thousand pounds sterling (36.7 million rubles), when the original costs an average of fifty thousand.

Calling the coupe a restomod is not entirely accurate, since it is a completely new car. It was first modeled in a CAD system based on original drawings and laser scan data. Computer analysis was then used to identify areas in need of structural improvements. Using this information, the steel body was reinforced with additional bracing and a vertical damper was added at the rear.

The key to the analogue feel was weight reduction. The target of 800 kilograms was achieved thanks to the use of carbon fiber outer panels, titanium rear axle components and magnesium wheels. A safety cage with removable beams in the doors appeared in the cabin. Finishing materials: leather, Alcantara and anodized metal. For an additional fee, you can order four-point belts and a composite “tray” for the helmet.

Boreham Motorworks have retained the overall proportions and styling of the original Ford Escort RS2000, but have removed unnecessary detail where it made sense to give the look a sharp, clean look. The main thing is that the car does not have any electronic assistants, which means it will be demanding of the driver’s skill and experience.

Under the hood of the Ford Escort Mk1 RS Continumod is a 2.1 four-cylinder racing engine with a power of 300 horsepower and a redline of 10 thousand rpm (an alternative is the upgraded Lotus-Ford Twin Cam 1.8 with 185 hp paired with a Ford four-speed). The gearbox is a five-speed dogleg manual. Each car will be covered by a warranty of two years or 32 thousand kilometers. The full premiere is planned for the summer of 2025, the start of production is in the third quarter.
